About Me

Cindy Betz, MSW, LCSW
LGBTQ  Counseling St. Louis, L.L.C., strictly adheres to the primary mission of the social work profession which is to "enhance human wellbeing and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty." (NASW Code of Ethics, 2008)

As a non-binary therapist, I have a deep understanding of the unique struggles that come with navigating identity in a world that often doesn’t provide adequate resources or validation for LGBTQ individuals. My own experiences of searching for support in spaces that didn’t fully understand or reflect my reality inspired me to return to school to pursue a career as a mental health professional (LCSW) where I could change that narrative and make a meaningful difference for others who may feel invisible or misunderstood.

I believe that everyone deserves access to a therapeutic space where they are seen, heard, and validated. I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQIIA+ clients, people exploring their gender or sexual identity and those involved in non-traditional relationships, such as polyamory, open relationships, and other forms of consensual non-monogamy. These relationship structures can be deeply fulfilling but often face unique challenges due to societal stigma or lack of understanding. I provide an affirming environment where clients can explore these dynamics openly, without fear of judgement.

I work with clients on a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I approach therapy as a collaborative process, where we work together to identify your goals and build a path toward healing and self-discovery. I believe therapy is not just about managing symptoms, but also fostering
empowerment and resilience.

I take a client-centered, holistic and integrative approach to therapy with a strong emphasis on identity exploration and relational dynamics. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to explore your deepest thoughts and emotions, challenge internalized beliefs, and develop a greater understanding of yourself and your relationships.

Whether you are navigating questions around gender or sexuality, seeking support in building healthy and fulfilling traditional and non-traditional relationships, or working through personal challenges, I am here to offer acceptance, empathy, and unwavering support. Your journey is unique, and I am committed to helping you find the tools and confidence to navigate it with authenticity and strength.

My core values
Service, social justice, dignity and worth of each person,
importance of human relationships, integrity and competence.
